Bereavement Counseling Bereavement is Much More Than Grieving When we lose someone whom we loved and that was a large part of our life we experience a great amount of grief, but grief is only one aspect of bereavement. Bereavement also includes the process of adjusting to life without the person we've lost. Most experience a huge void in their life that they don't know how to fill. They feel lost, empty and sometimes like they don't know who they are in the world anymore. Most people find that they get loads of support during the first couple of weeks after the death of their loved one, but then find themselves alone to deal with this challenging transition. You Do Not Have to Go it Alone This feeling of being all alone in your lose can be overwhelming, but you don't have to be alone in the process. By participating in bereavement counseling you will have someone who you can talk to who will be there to just listen to everything you are experiencing, who deeply understands what this transition entails, and who can give you techniques for making this transition easier and as short as possible. My Approach to Bereavement Counseling During your bereavement counseling sessions I will be there to listen to you, as someone you can lean on and trust for compassionate support throughout your process. Bereavement counseling is at times more about support than it is about counseling. At other times I will provide counseling to you with ideas and tools to help you deal with the emotional and logistical challenges of dealing with your great loss. |
